The Adafruit RS232 Full Breakout with 8 Channels of UART to RS-232 Level Shifters is a versatile tool for interfacing with telco, retro, or industrial equipment that uses RS-232 interfaces. It provides 5 input and 3 output channels for level shifting, using the MAX3243 chip, which handles high/negative voltage generation. RS232 Full Breakout supports data speeds up to 250Kbps and includes a DE9-M male connector for direct connection. It operates on 3.3V power and logic, making it compatible with many microcontrollers. It also supports all 8 data pins, including flow control signals like RTS, CTS, and DTR. Additionally, it features 'Valid' and 'Off' lines for connection status and power reduction. The board comes fully assembled and ready to use with a UART side for low-voltage logic and a DE-9M side for high-voltage signals.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.

Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
