This is a sensor designed to detect orientation. It outputs a logic LOW signal when positioned horizontally and a logic HIGH signal when vertical. This functionality is achieved through a pair of conductive balls inside the switch. When the switch is vertical, the balls make contact, completing the circuit. Tilting the switch breaks this contact, changing the output signal.
