Scroll unit is a rotary encoder expansion unit in the form of a scroll wheel. It integrates a 12-pulse through-shaft encoder + button input + WS2812C programmable RGB LED. The built-in STM32F030 microcontroller integrates encoder pulse signal acquisition firmware, allowing users to directly obtain encoder values through I2C reading operations, simplifying complex processes. It is suitable for control scenarios such as scale value control and volume adjustment.

Features:

  1. Based on STM32 microcontroller
  2. AB phase output (12 pulses per revolution)
  3. Built-in button
  4. Multi-color WS2812C RGB LED indicator
  5. I2C communication interface
  6. Rotary Encoder : EC10E
  7. Rotary Encoder Output : AB two-phase quadrature output
  8. Rotary Encoder Pulses : 12 pulses/revolution
  9. RGB LED : 1x WS2812C
  10. I2C Communication Address : 0x40

Applications:
  1. Industrial Automation
  2. Smart Home
  3. Robotics
  4. Human-Computer Interaction

Package Includes:

1 x Scroll Unit

1 x HY2.0-4P Grove cable (20cm)

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
