Maker Object is a tiny digital infrared (IR) proximity sensor designed for object/obstacle detection. The IR signal is modulated at 38kHz makes it immune to the ambient light. The Maker Object has NPN output with an internal pull-up resistor. Its output is low when the object is detected. The sensing range is adjustable via the small opening at the front of the sensor. This makes it easily accessible even though the sensor is mounted on the robot.

Due to its small form factor, Maker Object can be easily fitted in tiny robot such as a mini-sumo robot. The 90 degrees pin header is also very handy allowing us to plug in the sensor directly to the PCB or breadboard for quick testing.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.

Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
