The RakWireless IO Extension Module RAK5804  RAKwireless is a compact and versatile add-on for the WisBlock system, designed to simplify the integration of external sensors, actuators, and user interfaces into custom IoT solutions. It expands the input/output capabilities of the WisBlock Core module—such as the RAK4631—by providing a range of interfaces including digital GPIOs, an analog input, I2C and UART communication ports, LED outputs, a button input, and a USB interface. These connections are made accessible through two 10-pin expansion connectors (J2 and J3), allowing easy attachment of peripheral devices. The RAK5804 is ideal for low-power, battery-operated applications, featuring advanced protection mechanisms such as TVS circuits for ESD protection and PTC thermistors to prevent power overloads, developers can build reliable and customized IoT devices that communicate over LoRaWAN®, LoRa® point-to-point, or BLE with enhanced IO flexibility.

Features :

  1. 4 Digital GPIOs, 1 Analog input
  2. 2 I2C ports, 1 UART port
  3. 2 LED outputs, 1 Button input
  4. USB interface to WisBlock Core
  5. Low power consumption
  6. Compact size: 25 × 15 mm
  7. TVS for ESD protection
  8. PTC thermistor for overcurrent protection
  9. Two 10-pin IO connectors

Package Includes :

1 x RakWireless IO Extension Module RAK5804 1 x cable

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
