The SmartElex GPS-RTK2 Board is a high-precision GNSS module based on the powerful u-blox ZED-F9P receiver, capable of delivering centimeter-level positioning accuracy using Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) technology. It supports multiple satellite constellations including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou, ensuring reliable global positioning. The board enables easy, solderless integration via I2C. It also offers multiple communication interfaces including UART, USB, SPI, and I2C, making it suitable for robotics, drones, surveying, and autonomous navigation applications. The module can operate as both a rover and base station, providing RTCM correction data for high-accuracy positioning systems.

Features:

  1. Concurrent reception of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou
  2.  Receives both L1C/A and L2C bands
  3. Voltage: 5V or 3.3V but all logic is 3.3V
  4.  Current: 68mA - 130mA (varies with constellations and tracking state)
  5. Time to First Fix: 25s (cold), 2s (hot)
  6. Max Navigation Rate:
    1. PVT (basic location over UBX binary protocol) - 25Hz
    2. RTK - 20Hz
    3. Raw - 25Hz
  7. Horizontal Position Accuracy: 2.5m without RTK , 0.010m with RTK
  8.  Max Altitude: 50km (31 miles)
  9.  Max Velocity: 500m/s (1118mph)

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
