This is a simple to use, USB to serial base unit for the Digi X Bee line. This unit works with all X Bee modules including the Series 1 and Series 2.5, standard and Pro version. Plug the unit into the X Bee Explorer, attach a mini USB cable, and you will have direct access to the serial and programming pins on the X Bee unit. The highlight of this board is an FT231X USB-to-Serial converter. That’s what translates data between your computer and the X Bee. There’s also a reset button, and a voltage regulator to supply the X Bee with plenty of power. In addition, there are four LEDs that’ll help if you ever need to debug your X Bee: RX, TX, RSSI (signal-strength indicator), and power indicator. This board also breaks out each of the X Bee’s I/O pins to a pair of breadboard-compatible headers. So if you want to make use of the X Bee’s extended functionality, you can solder some header pins into those, or even just solder some wire.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.

Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.

Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.

Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
